About

For ModusRio designer and owner Sara Taublib, good style is innate. The Brazilian native was born into a culture buzzing with impeccable blends of colors, textures, shapes, and patterns.

"Growing up in Rio, you didn't go out of the house without being put together from top to bottom," says Taublib. She studied sociology and eventually earned a master's degree in Latin American literature, but she was born for style. She carried that intrinsic flair for fashion with her to New York City, where she worked as a high level executive in the jewelry industry.

Taublib founded ModusRio in 2007 with a commitment to provide premium quality handbags that are functional, chic, and beautifully crafted. While Taublib is a bona fide New Yorker these days, her home country remains at the heart of ModusRio. Every single material — from the linen to the leather — comes from Brazil, and a small team of talented artisans make each and every handbag in Rio.

Taublib has two missions for ModusRio: one is to provide secure jobs and an economic boost to Brazil. The other is to create exquisite handbags for cosmopolitan, sophisticated women who value quality and know good style.

"I create pieces that I would want to carry," said Taublib. And, after all, Taublib has good style in her DNA.
